User Connection Administration

Hi - apologies if this has been covered previously - an initial search didnt bring anything up.

I manage a DOORs database - we have a limited number of licences and I have a desire to see who is connected to the database and if possible - see what modules they have open, message them or kick them if they are inactive. (Users are split over buildings and floors). I am told that this used to be a feature in version 8, however we are currently running version 9.2 and I can't find any reference to this. It would seem strange for a new version to lose capability?

Does anyone know whether this feature is available in 9.2 or failing that available as some kind of addon?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi,

whan you open de database admin tool ou server, you can see how is connected and disconnect users.

With a script (from a client) you can see modules opened and by how,
but no tool to see activity.

I have already upgraded to 9.3 and I have the database admin tool installed. It is probably installed along with the server, so if you have only the client installation on your workstation you should also install a local server.

ah ok that makes sense - I will look into getting access to the server. Thankyou for both of your comments.

You do not need to Install the DOORS service, just get a copy of the file "dbsadmin.exe" from an existing server with the service installed, from the \bin directory, perhaps here:

c:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\bin

the dbadmin.exe is the DOS equivalent if you like scripting.

Make sure the DOORS version is correct; but perhaps that won't matter either.

However, that will not necissarily help with your "licensing" issue since some folks may be gettting your license and using some other database. You can get Licensing info from the "lmutil.exe" program that exists on the license server and must be run there.
